Nagarkot is a quirky little hill station town located just 32kms east of Kathmandu in Bhaktapur district. Situated at an elevation of 2,195 meters, it is one of the most scenic places in Bhaktapur district. The surrounding scrubland is laced with trails and is home to different species of butterflies.

Eight out of thirteen Himalayan peaks of Nepal can be seen clearly from here. It is famous for its beautiful sunrise and also known as the window to Mt. Everest. The picturesque beauty of the village makes it a popular tourist destination in the district.

Getting there

Located at a distance of just 27.8kms from Kathmandu, Nagarkot is by road. Public buses and taxis are available from Kathmandu or Bhaktapur. The journey takes around two hours to reach there from the heart of Kathmandu.

One can also take the cycling route to reach the place. The most common Nagarkot cycling route starts from Kathmandu and continues through Mulkharka and Chisapani to the view tower in Nagarkot.
