Press Conference on Kora KTM held on July 18 at Kaiser Library
Gear your helmets and two wheeled bicycles and get ready to cycle for humanity. Keeping in mind the tagline of VNY 2020 “Lifetime Experiences”, Kora KTM, the 9th annual cycling event of Nepal, is being held on July 20 from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. The event starts and ends at Patan Durbar Square. The press conference held on July 18 at Kaiser Library shed light on the various aspects of the event from sponsors to purpose and the route details.
The event is organised by Social Tours and Cycle City Nepal Network with Pangro being the event partner altogether in association with numerous other companies that are acting as supporting partners. Being the biggest mass ride in the Himalayas and South Asia, Kora KTM is more than just a cycling event. It is a mass ride for charity. The proceeds from the event is being donated to Richa Foundation, a non- profit organisation for Cancer. The target fundraising for the event is Rs 600,000 all of which will be used by Richa Foundation to help women with Ovarian Cancer and Breast Cancer.
For the past nine years, the event has been held on the third weekend of July and is a cause that works beyond profit and fun. Involving all aspects of CSR, the organisers of the event aim at bringing the culture of giving back to the society to Nepal. All proceeds from Kora 2018 went to the Thokarpa Village roofing project.
This year a whopping 3000 riders have registered for the cycling challenge, which is free of cost. The event is being held in three stages: 50 km, 75 km and 100 km and Riders can register accordingly. However, riders are encouraged to raise at least Rs 100 per km. All registered riders are being insured! The press meet also highlighted the routes that the participants will be taking. A gold medal is presented to all riders at the end of the event.
A Click 2 win contest is also being held by the organisers. As the name suggests, the top photograph of the event will be chosen and the photographer will win one ticket to any destination of your choice in Europe. This is being sponsored by Turkish Airlines.
The press meet had many dignitaries of various companies who believe in the greater good of the community and are official sponsors of the event. A few among them were Mediciti, Richa Foundation, Pangro and Turkish Airlines. The event was also graced by National Mountain Biking Team who will also be participating in the event.
