I am Harsimran Singh, a chef with two years of experience at Aloft Kathmandu Thamel. My culinary identity can be summed up as that of a passionate learner, driven by goals, and fueled by a visionary mindset.


What inspired you to embark on your journey in the hospitality sector, and what steps did you take to start your career?


My passion for cooking blossomed under the guidance of my mother, combined with my enthusiasm as a devoted food lover. This led me to pursue a career in the hospitality sector, beginning with my studies at Nathm and further honing my skills through training at various hotels, eventually bringing me to where I am today.


What motivated you to choose a career in the hospitality sector specifically, and what aspects of the industry appeal to you the most?


The realm of bakery and pastry has always held a vibrant allure for me. It is a realm where colors come alive, recipes are endlessly experimented with, and each step brings valuable lessons. This intrinsic motivation has fueled my journey in this field.


Can you share an example of a challenging situation in the kitchen and how you handled it?


Challenges and pressure are inherent in our professional lives, but embracing them and approaching them as opportunities for growth is key. By fostering open-mindedness and working collaboratively with our teams, we not only overcome challenges but also drive ourselves towards greater accomplishments.

In my view, success is an ongoing journey fueled by a sense of contentment and an unwavering desire for self-improvement. It entails dedicating oneself to working at the highest level of proficiency, striving for efficiency, and finding pride in one's accomplishments. Genuine satisfaction with one's work paves the way to success.
