The 7th Tharu National Literary Conference held in Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality of Banke has ended with the release of the 12-point manifesto. The conference emphasized on increasing the interest of youth in Tharu literature, searching for creative writing, writing in Tharu standard language, and documenting history by discussing cultural costumes. Dr. Krishnaraj Sarbahari, president of Tharu Writers' Association, informed that the National Tharu Literature Conference organized every year is working to bring about a kind of awakening.
Mentioning that Tharu language books that were published a decade ago and the books that are being published recently are improving in language writing, he asserted that no matter where the Tharu literature conference is held in any corner of the country, they are working to empower the young writers there as well as bring linguistic awakening.
According to him, a 12-point manifesto has been issued in the conference, including Tharu literary organizations, language lovers, writers, publishers, and editors to cooperate for the promotion of Tharu language, literature, and culture. In the Tharu National Literary Conference, there was a debate not only about literature, but also about the state of development and people's livelihood.
Shekhar Dahit, a central member of the Tharu Writers Association, said that the National Conference organized by the Tharu Writers Association every year with the aim of documenting the discovery, research and history of the art and culture of the Tharu community is gradually taking shape.
Six different topics were discussed and debated at the 7th National Tharu Literature Conference. Priority for the development of Rapti Sonari, Warghar, in tribal language of the past decade, mother language development of Banke, Tharu community in homestay, Tharu in narrative, condition of Tharu literature in Banke, and youth in Tharu literature, were some of the agendas highlighted. The ravages of sickle cell anemia and the subsequent adverse effects on public health were also discussed in groups.
Journalist Vimala Chaudhary, author and researcher of Tharu art and culture Shekhar Dahit, journalist and barghar activist Ekraj Chaudhary, journalist and writer Naveen Abhilashi, writer Sagar Gaire, writer Balika Chaudhary, sickle cell anemia prevention campaigner Prabhuram Chaudhary, young writer Bhumika Tharu and others played the role of facilitators in the debate.
Although there were not many new books in the Tharu language this year, Sorath written by Lakshmi Rana, and Twana novel written by Ganesh Prashant as well as Tharu calendar were released. Lakshmi Rana, the author of the story collection Sorath, was honored with Rs 25,000 in cash, while writer Kiran Acharya, who has been penning the life of the Tharu, was honored with a letter of appreciation.
Nearly 300 writers, journalists, analysts, scholars from the districts of East Sunsari, Morang and Kanchanpur in the far west participated in the conference._RSS
