The conference marked its official opening where the amenities of the hotel and VNY 2020 were discussed
A press conference was held by Akama Hotel on August 12 marking its official opening. Owned by Sanima Group of companies, Akama Hotel is situated in the heart of Kathmandu at Dhumbarahi. The hotel has been booking guests and customers since the past 7 months.
The press conference was prefaced with a tour of the hotel. The hotel boasts of 108 rooms with a variety of Deluxe, Superior and Suites. A multicuisine restaurant ‘Coffee Shop’, a fine dining restaurant ‘Chow Bella’ and a lobby lounge with a few confectionaries and shops is also present. In addition to this, the hotel also has four different types of conference rooms, an infinity pool, steam and sauna rooms, gymnasium and a Pool Bar.
The press conference saw the presence of the Board of Directors, the General Manager and the Sales and Marketing Director who were seated on the dais. Kaushal Singh, the Sales and Marketing Director graced the occasion with an opening speech and a presentation. The speech included a general introduction of the hotel with a detailed information of the various amenities offered. “Our hotel is different from others because of its focus on Nepali culture. We want to offer our guests a traditional stay,” he said.
The general Manager, Raju Shrestha, said a few words regarding the hotel and its vision.
The press conference also elicited light on VNY 2020, Nepal’s initiative to increase its tourist for the year 2020. Akama Hotel has been promoting Nepal in various competitions and fairs keeping in mind VNY 2020. The faces of the hotel want to contribute towards making Nepal well-known as a popular tourist destination. Akama Hotel also hopes to be a popular MICE destination for various conferences, meetings et cetera.
The conference was ended with a closing speech by the chairman, Binay Kumar. “VNY 2020 aims to attract 2 million tourists in 2020. I believe the goal can be reached if the government sector and private sector work in confluence,” he said. He also spoke about Honourable Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai and said he admired his long vision. “The tourism sector will reach new heights under his leadership,” Binay Kumar said.
