Since 2015, Nepali Travellers has supported and mentored 42 Nepali women in their solo travel across Nepal.

Nepali Travellers, a community of inspiration and support for Nepali travellers who want to explore Nepal and the world, provided a travel grant through SWO-YATRA 2018 (Solo Woman Travel Challenge) to 14 solo women travellers in Nepal to explore expansive natural landscape and diverse cultural heritages of the country in the year 2018.

Since 2015, Nepali Travellers has supported and mentored 42 Nepali women in their solo travel across Nepal. Several institutions have come forth to support and organize the event that would support Nepali women to travel solo and benefit them by giving a first hand exclusive experience of exploring Nepal.

The solo travellers for 2018 are Prajwola Karmacharya, Menuka Gurung, Eka Kumari Basnet, Anupama Pithakote, Pooja Rijal, Rejina Tamang, Sudixa Malla, Anugya Pradhan, Gauri Malakar, Rukshana Kapali, Mamata Maharjan, Sweta Shrestha and Nima Sherpa. Their travel included coverage across Nepal throughout its southern and northern belt; from east to west. In addition, as recipient of the Solo Expedition Nepal 2018, Shanti Rai travelled across Nepal for 86 days.
One out of these winners Pooja Rijal was selected to be Miss Nepali Traveller, and received full funding and support for international solo travel in South East Asia, starting with Bali (Indonesia).

Nepali Travellers cultivates the travel attitude by challenging the Nepali community to embrace vulnerability and invite uncertainty. Solo Woman Travel Challenge supports strong, dynamic women to defy the norm and set their own standards-through an introspective, experiential solo journey. Besides this, it creates and publishes travel content that are intimate and localized, within Nepal and beyond. The platform also organizes events and grants to facilitate travel plans that are substantial in their intent and experience.

The web video series of these 14 women travellers will be released from March 2019 onwards on digital platforms. The Video Series is supported by: Columbia SportsWear Nepal (Title Sponsor), San Miguel Nepal (Supporting Partner), and Nepal Tourism Board (Promoter).

SWO-YATRA 2018 Challenge, between May 2018 to January 2019, was sponsored by KTM CTY, Thamserku, Mega Bank Nepal Ltd, and Neco Insurance Pvt. Ltd. Partner Organizations include WomenLEAD Nepal, Outdoor Adventure Center, Himalayan Medics, and Sattya Media Arts Collective.
