Among the plastic items used to decorate homes and offices, original handicrafts are challenging the competition.
It seems that people's attraction is increasing with plastic which is not durable and reliable. Some of them have copied the Nepali handicrafts and put them inside the plastic goods.
Artisan Saroj Dilu Bishwakarma says, "Plastic items are being used more in our market. Such items should be discouraged and original art should be promoted, otherwise Nepali art may disappear."
According to him, it is necessary to protect the art by increasing the study and research for the development of Nepali handicrafts. It should be searched in the market institutionally. He insists that there are some arts which have not come out. They should be discovered and promoted.
Devendra Kumar Kafle, member secretary of Nepal Latilkala Pragya-Pratishthan, said that for the preservation and promotion of Thumkeli art, the foundation has introduced the concept of Art Hub in all seven provinces. According to him, if the government can study the national 'startup' policy recently and give necessary suggestions in time, the handicrafts sector can benefit greatly. He said that the foundation is also on a campaign to include local skills in the curriculum.
The chancellor of the institution, Naradamani Hartamchhali, is of the opinion that it is necessary to include the subject of handicrafts in the publicity and publication of the institution for the development of handicrafts.
In recent times, Nepal Fine Arts Institute has made an action plan for the development of the art sector. The foundation is working to move forward with more plans, covering the inclinations from studying art and artists through art conferences._RSS
