Kaskikot was once part of the former Kaski kingdom, one of the many small principalities that existed in western Nepal before the country’s unification. Today, visitors can explore the remains of the old palace area—often referred to as the durbar—as well as nearby temples that reflect the area’s historical and cultural importance.
Easy Access from Pokhara
One of Kaskikot’s greatest advantages is its proximity to Pokhara. Located roughly 8–12 kilometres away, it can be reached by road, with local transport options available. For those who enjoy walking, the journey can also be combined with scenic hiking routes, making it suitable for both casual visitors and more active travellers.
Hiking via Sarangkot
A particularly popular route connects Kaskikot with Sarangkot, a renowned vantage point famous for its sunrise views. The hike between the two typically takes around one to two hours, following ridgelines and village paths. Along the way, walkers are rewarded with views of the Annapurna Range and glimpses of Phewa Lake far below.
Village Life and Local Culture
Despite its accessibility, Kaskikot retains a strong rural character. Traditional houses, terraced fields, and agricultural life continue to define the landscape. Visitors can experience local hospitality in small homestays and eateries, where simple meals such as Dal Bhat are commonly served.
