Nepal, with its awe-inspiring landscapes and towering Himalayan peaks, is a dream destination for adventure seekers. While most travellers flock to popular trekking routes, I was on a quest for an off-the-beaten-path experience. That's when I discovered the Astam Village trek tour, promising a delightful blend of mountain exploration and immersion into traditional Nepali village life. Join me on this remarkable journey as we uncover the hidden gems near Pokhara, Nepal.

Day 1: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara

Embarking on an early morning drive from Kathmandu, I embarked on a scenic journey to Pokhara. The six-hour drive treated me to breathtaking views of the countryside, as the grandeur of Fishtail Peak and the Annapurna Range dominated the horizon. In Pokhara, a city known for its tranquil lakes, I settled into my hotel and explored the charming lakeside area.

Day 2: Trek from Hemja to Astam Village

After a hearty breakfast, I embarked on the trekking portion of the journey. A short drive brought me to Hemja, where my hike to Astam Village began. Following a leisurely path through quaint villages and lush forests, I immersed myself in the beauty of nature. Astam Village, an eco-village nestled at an altitude of 1568 meters, welcomed me with open arms. The traditional houses made of split stone and slate roofs exuded a rustic charm, while the surrounding landscapes provided an ideal setting for witnessing the panoramic views of the Annapurna Range.

Days 3-4: Exploring Astam Village and Surroundings

Astam Village offered a glimpse into the simple and serene Nepali village lifestyle. I wandered through the narrow pathways, observing locals going about their daily routines and marveling at their use of alternative technologies for sustainability. The village served as a base for my explorations, and I embarked on hikes to nearby villages such as Hyangja Kot, Dhampus, and Australian Camp. Each destination gifted me with awe-inspiring mountain vistas and an opportunity to connect with the local culture.

Day 5: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu

As my memorable journey neared its end, I bid farewell to Pokhara and boarded a comfortable tourist bus for the return journey to Kathmandu. The scenic drive allowed me to reflect on the incredible experiences and beautiful memories I had accumulated during the trek. Upon reaching Kathmandu, I checked into a hotel and had free time to explore the vibrant Thamel Market, picking up souvenirs and immersing myself in the local atmosphere.

The Astam Village trek tour turned out to be an extraordinary adventure, offering a unique blend of mountain vistas, Nepali village life, and cultural immersion. As I sat down for a farewell dinner with a traditional Nepali show, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to witness the beauty of Nepal beyond the beaten path. The Astam Village trek is a hidden gem, a journey that provides solace for the soul, and an authentic experience of the Nepalese countryside.
