Hotel Association Nepal celebrated its Diamond Jubilee, highlighting six decades of hospitality excellence, innovation, sustainability, and regional tourism collaboration under the theme “Tech-powered Hospitality.”

16 January 2026, Kathmandu, Nepal — The Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) marked a historic milestone by celebrating its Diamond Jubilee – 60 Years of Hospitality Excellence with a grand ceremony held at Hotel Royal Tulip, Gwarko, Lalitpur. The event was organized under the theme “Tech-powered Hospitality”, reflecting the association’s forward-looking vision for Nepal’s tourism and hospitality sector.

The program commenced with the opening of the National Anthem, setting a dignified tone for the occasion. This was followed by delivering the welcome and inaugural speech by HAN President Mr. Binayak Shah warmly welcomed distinguished guests, dignitaries, stakeholders, and members of the hospitality fraternity. In his address, Mr. Shah reflected on HAN’s six-decade-long journey, highlighting the association’s continuous efforts in strengthening Nepal’s hospitality industry and its vital role in promoting tourism as a pillar of the national economy. He emphasized HAN’s proactive involvement in policy advocacy, industry capacity building, destination promotion, and collaborative campaigns aimed at sustainable tourism development.

 

Mr. Shah also elaborated on HAN’s active participation in national and international tourism campaigns, its leadership role during challenging times for the industry, and its commitment to innovation, digital transformation, and inclusive growth within the hospitality sector.

One of the key highlights of the event was the digital inauguration of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations by the Honorable Minister, symbolizing the industry’s transition toward technology-driven hospitality solutions.

The program also featured the presentation of HAN’s Annual Program by Mr. Prabin Pandey, outlining upcoming initiatives, strategic priorities, and future plans focused on digitalization, skill development, sustainability, and global competitiveness.

A special segment was dedicated to the Green Hospitality Initiative, where HAN reaffirmed its commitment to environmentally responsible tourism. The initiative emphasized sustainable practices, energy efficiency, waste management, and eco-friendly operations across hotels and hospitality establishments in Nepal.

During the ceremony, contributors to Nepal’s hospitality industry and the Hotel Association Nepal were formally honored for their invaluable support and dedication, recognizing their role in shaping the growth and resilience of the sector over the years.

Addressing the gathering, Her Excellency, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka, shared insights on Sri Lanka’s tourism journey, best practices, and recovery strategies. She highlighted areas where Nepal could learn from Sri Lanka’s experience, particularly in destination branding, service excellence, and sustainable tourism management, while emphasizing the importance of regional cooperation.

As a gesture of gratitude, tokens of appreciation were presented to all sponsors and partners, acknowledging their continuous support in making the Diamond Jubilee celebration a success.

The event concluded with a special address by the Honorable Minister for Tourism Mr. Anil Kumar Sinha, who praised HAN’s contributions to Nepal’s tourism industry and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working closely with the private sector to strengthen tourism, attract investment, and promote Nepal as a world-class destination.

The Diamond Jubilee celebration stood as a testament to Hotel Association Nepal’s legacy, leadership, and vision, marking 60 years of excellence while paving the way for a technologically empowered and sustainable future for Nepal’s hospitality industry.
