Damrang pond that lies in the eastern part of the Lamjung district has been developed as a tourist destination by the Dordi Rural municipality. The rural municipality has started protecting the pond to connect it with economic resources while developing it as a tourist destination.
A 4 kilometre, 8 metre long and 6 metre wide road up to the pond at a cost of Rs.25 lakh was constructed to promote and develop tourism in this area.
Similarly, Damrang Green Park has been constructed near the pond with the financial support of the state government. It is said that the park was built with a budget of five lakh rupees of Division Forest Office Lamjung under the provincial government.
Inside this park, a stone staircase was built, a 285-metre compound was surrounded by wire mesh, and various types of plants were planted. Since there is no water source in this area except Damrang pond, all the animals of this forest come to this pond to drink water.
People can go to Lipe, a historical and touristic place, from the location of Damrang pond, and even Gorkha can be reached through Dudhpokhri.
Locals are expecting that the government will gradually focus on this area, which is being neglected due to lack of protection and promotion, and the arrival of tourists.
Harka Peak, Lamjung Himal, Annapurna, Machhapuchchre Himal Chuli, Manaslu and other mountains can be seen from this place .
A cave with a length of 80-82 metres can be seen at a distance of 15 minutes from the pond.
In the current financial year, Rs. 2.6 million has been allocated for the maintenance of the pond. According to Yuvraj Adhikari, Chairman of the rural municipality, “Work is being done to lay stones around the pond. The work of laying stones from 6 metres to 10 metres around the pond is going on.” He added, “The tourists who come here will enjoy this pond and the area, and it will be a very attractive. The development of this place as a tourist destination will continue in the coming days. As there is a lot of potential for tourists here, it is necessary for the village to attract tourists by protecting it.”
The Chairman also said, “In order to connect this pond to the road network, a road was constructed in Dordi Rural Municipality-4 that connects Dagkhet-Kamchok-Damrang-Lipe under Area No. (KA)."
