Transport vehicles have been operated on the concrete bridge built on the Sunkoshi River of the Gaighat Diktel road section connecting Udaipur's headquarters in Gaighat to the hilly district Khotang Diktel.
Ten years ago, the construction of a concrete bridge in Sunkoshi started. The construction of the bridge will be completed by January. Parvata Gaura JV Construction Construction Company started the bridge construction in Sunkosi in March 2069. There was an agreement that the construction should be completed by 2075. When the construction company delayed the work, they were facing difficulties in traveling to Udaipur, Khotang, Terai, Madhes.
Rs 196 million was spent on the construction of the bridge. A bridge of 142 meters in length and 6.5 meters in width has been constructed. Since there was no concrete bridge in Sunkoshi, from the year 2069, transportation vehicles used to run for six months by installing a beli bridge in Sunkosi on the Gaighat Diktel road section. After the water flow in Sunkoshi increased in May, Belibrij was opened during the rainy season for six months.
In the Gaighat-Diktel road section, traffic was resumed for six months in winter and traffic operation was stopped for six months in rainy season. This time, after the construction of the concrete bridge at Sunkosi, the Belibrij has also been removed, and now, direct transport will run from Udaipur's headquarter Gaighat to Khotang's Diktel and from Diktel to Gaighat in both seasons of winter rains.
“On the concrete bridge of the Sunkoshi River, between Roumai Rural Municipality-5 in Udaipur and Khotang Rural Municipality-9 Lichki Ramche of Gaighat Diktel road section, Khotang Diktel directly from Gaighat in Udaipur and from Diktel directly to Gaighat have started operating from Thursday,” said Udim Bahadur Rai, Chairman of Khotang Khotehang Rural Municipality.
“Although there is still some work left to complete the construction of the Sunkoshi bridge, according to the pressure of the transport businessmen and the demand of the people, although the last works of the bridge construction are left, the means of transport will be resumed from Thursday,” said Pradeep Bhandari, head of Bridge Sector No. 1, Dharan._Rss
