Devotees flocked to the Matatirtha Kunda pond in Chandragiri Municipality-6 of Kathmandu to celebrate Matatirtha Aunsi, also known as Mother's Day. This special day is observed every year on the new moon day in the month of Baisakh as per the lunar calendar to honor and remember mothers who have passed away.
On this day, devotees take a holy bath, make offerings, and pay homage to their departed mothers. They believe that by doing so, they can see the reflection of their mother's face in the pond. Many people visit their mothers with sweets, clothes, and gifts to make them happy and receive their blessings.
To mark this occasion, arrangements have been made for visiting devotees, and the Matatirtha Conservation and Development Organization's Chairperson, Shanta Udas, said that over 500,000 devotees are expected to visit the pond. The day before, devotees stay up all night in memory of their mothers.
Furthermore, the Chandragiri Municipality has announced a public holiday within the municipality to celebrate this special day. Matatirtha Aunsi is a beautiful tradition that allows people to express their love and gratitude towards their mothers and remember the invaluable role they play in their lives._Rss
