From good ambiance to great food, Taverna Nepal has all it needs to be a piece of paradise amidst the bustling town

Taverna is a serene property in Kupondole, Lalitpur, that serves pan-Asian and light snacks with Hawaiian vibes. The place has a very tropical ambience with palm trees, swimming pool, open and semi open seating spaces, and an open bar.

There are two seating areas. The space on the first storey is semi open and gives the perfect view of the glistening swimming pool. It has a very interesting atmosphere with green plants and pebbles, wooden floor, beautiful lights, wooden chairs and tables that perfectly complements the entire setting. The area upstairs is prohibited from smoking so it is the ideal location for some quality family time. Taverna is managed by a unique choice group. 

The major attraction of Taverna is their swimming pool that goes from 3 feet to 6 feet in depth. They have very beautiful chairs and tables on the pool deck with perfect shade for the scorching sun and beautiful lights that glow in the evening. The poolside in Taverna is the place where you can sit around with your friends, have drinks and some fun.

The bar of Taverna is also very beautiful which allows a direct look to the pool. It is well decorated with lights and conveys the theme Taverna is trying to give that is tropical.


Shrimp Dynamite


Shrimp Dynamite is a Japanese appetiser that has a very crunchy exterior and tender interior. The addictive sweet and spicy mayonnaise sauce coats the crispy fried shrimp. The shrimp gets floured and then battered. Next, it’s cooked and covered in spicy mayo and Sriracha sauce.

The look of the dish was very attractive and the taste perfectly matches its alluring look.


Crispy Chicken Boa


Crispy Chicken Boa’s initial draw is the fluffy homemade Chinese sweet steamed Bao buns with fried chicken (dipped and marinated in various seasonings), bread crumbs, pickled onions, cucumber, and other colourful and creamy sauces. A tangy sauce comes with the Boa.

As you take a bite, it melts in your mouth, leaving a delicate, creamy and spicy mayo aftertaste that pairs well with the flavour of soft and succulent chicken.


Huli Huli Chicken


Huli Huli Chicken is a Hawaiian dish that has a distinct and very tropical flavour. The boneless chicken is marinated in pineapple juice, soy sauce and spices with plenty of fresh ginger and garlic that injects sweet and savoury flavours into the chicken. Then, it is grilled which makes an excellent glaze in the chicken.

It is served with homemade green salad and fresh pineapple salsa. Huli Huli chicken is a burst of flavours. It has that sweet and zesty flavour that satisfies your mouth in every bite, and makes you want to munch on it more.


Chicken Roulade


Chicken Roulade is a French dish where chicken breast is stuffed with minced vegetables and cheeses, rolled in cylindrical shape and then cut into bite sizes and then baked. It is served and garnished with steamed veggies, cauliflower puree and chimichurri sauce.

The dish is very soft and tender. It has a distinct and addictive taste of cheese, vegetables, and chicken together. The look of the dish was also very tempting and colourful. The garnishes of different colours play well with the dish.


Drinks


We tried two drinks. The first one was Naked Blue. It was very refreshing and had a very tropical punch in its taste. The drink contained Mango puree, and blue curacao that was mixed with sprite.

Another was Dark Magic. It has pineapple juice, orange juice, grenadine syrup and is topped with sprite. It had a very fruity taste to it and was cool and soothing, on a hot summer day.

Taverna Nepal is a little piece of tropical paradise in Kathmandu. It has good food, good ambience, and good staff members, which makes it a perfect place to hang out and chill with your family and friends.
