Some of the popular landmarks in the district include Satahun Chandi, Manakamana, Bhirkot Durbar, Alamdevi, Gahraukalika, Nuwakot Durbar, Chhangchhangdi, and Ridi Ruru Kshetra on the banks of the Kaligandaki River. Chhangchhangdi, also known as Chaya-kshetra, is mentioned in the Swasthani Vrata-Katha, considered to be a part of the Skanda Purana, as the place where the last organ of the dead Satidevi fell when she was being carried by Lord Shiva. The Bhirkot Durbar, an ancient palace located in the Bhirkot municipality, is also a popular destination for history buffs, offering a glimpse into the rich history and culture of the region.

Apart from the historic landmarks, Syangja is also known for its natural beauty, with breathtaking scenery and stunning views of the mountains and valleys. One of the significant developments in Syangja is the Kali Gandaki Hydropower Plant, which is the largest hydropower plant in Nepal and is located on the Kali Gandaki River in Kaligandaki Gaunpalika. The plant has a maximum capacity of 144 MW and provides electricity to millions of people across the country. The hydropower plant has also significantly contributed to the economic growth of the region, creating job opportunities and improving the standard of living for the people of Syangja.

The district of Syangja has five municipalities: Waling, Putalibazar, Chapakot, Bhirkot, and Galyang, and six rural municipalities: Aandhikhola, Arjun Chaupari, Biruwa, Phedikhola, Harinas, and Kaligandaki. Waling, the largest and most developed city in the district, is a longitudinal valley along the banks of the Aandhikhola River. According to one folk legend, the Aandhikhola River is believed to have originated from the tears of Shravan in the Ramayana.

In addition to natural and historical attractions, Syangja also offers some cultural events and festivals. The district is known for its lively music and dance culture, and visitors can enjoy traditional Nepali folk music and dance performances during various festivals and celebrations. The Maghe Sankranti festival, which falls in mid-January, is one of the most significant cultural events in Syangja, during which locals celebrate with special food, music, and dance. Other popular festivals in the district include Teej, Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath.

The district is also famous for its handicrafts, including traditional pottery, weaving, and wooden crafts. Visitors can witness the traditional handicraft-making process and buy some beautiful souvenirs to take back home.
