Hyatt Place Kathmandu celebrates “Lost Cuisines of Nepal 2.0” with Nepal’s diverse food heritage, offering authentic dishes from across the country

"Lost Cuisines of Nepal 2.0," launched by Hyatt Place Kathmandu Is a culinary event running from August 24th to September 7th, 2024. This event invites guests to rediscover and enjoy traditional ethnic dishes from Nepal's rich food heritage.

The festival is taking place at Zing - World of Flavours, the signature restaurant at Hyatt Place Kathmandu, which has been beautifully transformed into a traditional Nepalese setting for the occasion. Nepal's diverse geography, ranging from the Terai plains to the Himalayan peaks, has given rise to a wide variety of cultures and cuisines. Unfortunately, many of these authentic dishes are at risk of being forgotten as modern culinary trends dominate. The "Lost Cuisines of Nepal" festival aims to preserve and celebrate these ancient flavors, keeping them alive for future generations.

The festival features a carefully curated selection of recipes, prepared by Chef Baburam Sharma and his team, that reflect the traditions and lifestyles of Nepal’s diverse ethnic groups. Diners will have the chance to taste dishes from across the country, including the Terai, mid-hills, and high Himalayas. These dishes, prepared using traditional methods and ingredients, offer a genuine taste of Nepal’s culinary history. To ensure authenticity, ingredients have been sourced directly from their original locations, such as Yangben, a delicacy of the Limbu community from Dhankuta, and Marsi rice from Jumla. Gathering these unique ingredients took a month, adding to the authenticity of the event.

The local touch to the ambiance enhances the overall experience, making the festival feel even more genuine. "Lost Cuisines of Nepal 2.0" is a true celebration of Nepal's cultural diversity and heritage, highlighting the importance of preserving these traditional dishes. These recipes are not only a source of pride but also a vital link to Nepal’s past.

Guests at the festival can enjoy a wide range of dishes, each with its own unique story and significance. From hearty mountain meals to the delicate flavors of Terai cuisine, the menu offers something for everyone. This is a rare opportunity to experience the flavors that have shaped Nepal’s culinary traditions for centuries.

Don't miss out on this chance to taste Nepal's forgotten dishes and be part of this special celebration of culture and heritage. For more information or to make a reservation, please contact Hyatt Place Kathmandu at +977 980-1229377.
