The Thamel-based hotel held its annual cake-mixing ceremony on a wintery Tuesday

On November 22, The Aloft Kathmandu Thamel held its annual cake-mixing ceremony, which seemed to be the perfect lead-up to the upcoming Christmas festivities. Representatives of prominent business organisations, socialites, and spouses of diplomats were present at the ceremony, which was held at the hotel’s Nilgiri’s Skye Lounge.

The ceremony was opened by Aloft’s General Manager, Vikram Singh, who welcomed and thanked all invitees and media outlets for attending. The event was continued by Executive Sous Chef Rajeev Shrestha, who gave a brief history and explanation of cake mixing

The aprons, gloves, and caps were distributed to the guests before the cake mixing began. Following this, the hotel’s employees, guests, and chefs gathered to combine the ingredients. Then everyone blended the extensive list of dried fruits with spices, herbs, wine, beer, rum, and whiskey while adhering to the Chef’s instructions. It is generally accepted that the fruits should be soaked and combined more than a month in advance to achieve the authentic taste and flavour of Christmas cake.

Ms. Pratima Pande, Ms. Noha Hamdy Ahmed Elgebaly from the Egyptian Embassy, Ms. Nona Deprez from the European Union, Ms. Torum Dramdal from Norway Embassy,, Ms. Nicola Pollitt from the British Embassy, Ms. Sabina Shrestha from Italian Consulate and Ms. Jane Thompson from the American Embassy was among the guests from the cake mixing ceremony.

The general manager shared, “We will bake approximately 80 kg of baked items in total and send them to our visitors and different non-profit organisations that we support as part of our corporate social responsibility.” As a reminder of the celebrations, the hotel’s chefs prepared a delicious feast that perfectly encapsulated the spirit and joy of Christmas.
