Can you tell us about your background and experience in the hospitality industry?
My background and experience in the hospitality industry have been quite diverse. I began my career in this industry in the Human Resources Department, where I spent a significant portion of my professional journey, accumulating 12 years of experience. During these years, I had the opportunity to work for various companies, gaining valuable insights and skills in HR and people management. However, my career took an exciting turn when I was entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing resort operations. This role was particularly challenging, but it provided me with a unique perspective on the industry.
I had the chance to immerse myself in the day-to-day operations and also in the strategic planning of a resort, learning about guest experiences, staff management, and the intricacies of running a successful hospitality business. Today, I am proud to say that me and my team’s efforts have contributed to the establishment and success of Kavya as a prominent player in the hospitality industry. Kavya has become synonymous with quality service, exceptional guest experiences, and a commitment to excellence. These keywords reflect the core values and attributes that have defined my journey and the success of Kavya in the hospitality sector.
What are your challenges as the resort manager of Kavya Resort and Spa?
As the resort manager of Kavya Resort and Spa, I face several challenges in ensuring the smooth operation and success of the resort. The resort industry often experiences seasonal variations in occupancy and demand. Managing these fluctuations effectively, including staffing levels and pricing strategies, is a constant challenge.
Where do you see Nepal’s hospitality today, and what are the opportunities and challenges ahead for the coming season?
Nepal's hospitality sector is showing encouraging signs of recovery, with a substantial increase in foreign tourist arrivals post-COVID. To fully capitalize on this momentum, Nepal should focus on diversification, sustainable practices, and infrastructure development while addressing the challenges related to infrastructure, seasonality, and environmental preservation. Additionally, maintaining political stability and fostering a favorable regulatory environment will be crucial for the industry's long-term success.
What are your future plans and vision for the resort?
Our future plans and vision for the resort revolve around creating a holistic and wellness-oriented experience for our guests. We believe that by adding a Spa Village with Ayurveda, expanding our spa rooms, increasing our inventory, and focusing on overall well-being, we will provide our guests with an unforgettable and rejuvenating stay at our resort.
