A group of friends enjoying a relaxing hike to Bishnudwar in Shivapuri National Park, experiencing nature and friendship, providing a perfect break from city life.
My friends and I decided to escape the busy Kathmandu City for a day. We planned on hiking to Bishnudwar which is located in Shivapuri National Park. Our hiking plan was simple and easy, so we chose Bishnudwar as our hiking destination. Bishnudwar is the source of the Bishnumati River, which is one of the most important rivers in Kathmandu valley and holds sacred significance to Hindus and Buddhists.
Starting Our Adventure
We decided to meet at Budanilkantha, a place near the entrance of Shivapuri National Park. We met there at about 7 AM and had a hearty breakfast, which made us all more energized and excited. After enjoying breakfast at a local shop, we headed towards Shivapuri National Park. We parked our scooters at the parking of Shivapuri, which is located right next to the gate of the National Park. We paid an entry fee of 100 rupees per person and started our journey towards Bishnudwar.
The Hike Begins
Our hike began with a beautiful walk through the forest. We were surrounded by tall, green trees and the sounds of nature. After hiking for almost two hours, we arrived at a spot from where we could see the view of Kathmandu Valley from the top. It was breathtaking, and it felt great to leave the city's hustle and bustle behind.
By this time, we were getting hungry. Luckily, we had packed some snacks to enjoy during the hike. We found a nice spot, took a break, and had our snacks. This break refreshed us and gave us the energy to continue our hike.
Continuing Through the Forest
As we continued walking through the jungle, we noticed how relaxing the route to Bishnudwar was. Along the way, we saw small waterfalls where we stopped to take pictures and enjoy the scenery. The trees were beautiful, with their names written on signboards, which made the hike educational as well.
The route was clearly indicated with signboards, making it easy for us to find our way. We also met other hikers who were as enthusiastic as we were, sharing smiles and greetings along the way.
Reaching Bishnudwar
As we got closer to Bishnudwar, we could hear the sound of a waterfall. This made us even more eager and excited to reach our destination. The sound of the waterfall was very peaceful. When we finally arrived, we were amazed by the beauty of the waterfall. We relaxed, played in the water, took pictures, and created beautiful memories with our friends.
Heading Back to the City
After spending an hour at the waterfall, we decided to head back to the city. We took various stops during our hike back to enjoy nature and rest. By the time we got back to Budanilkantha, it was 4 PM.
Tips for Future Hikers
One important tip for anyone planning to hike to Bishnudwar is to bring your own snacks and water, as there are no shops along the hiking route. Bringing our own snacks and water helped us a lot during our hike, and it will likely help you as well. Another tip is to protect yourself from the sun by packing sunglasses or a hat, as well as by dressing comfortably and wearing shoes.
Our hike to Bishnudwar was a fantastic escape from the city. We enjoyed nature, bonded with friends, and created lasting memories. If you're looking for a simple and enjoyable hike near Kathmandu, Bishnudwar in Shivapuri National Park is a great choice.
