MTR has inaugurated its new outlet in Kamal Pokhari, Kathmandu, offering guests authentic South Indian cuisine and exceptional hospitality.

MTR (Mavalli Tiffin Rooms), the iconic South Indian pure-vegetarian dining institution, has launched its newest outlet in Kathmandu today at Kamal Pokhari, right across from City Center, delighting Kathmandu’s food lovers with the authentic flavors it’s famous for.

Brought to Nepal by the Le Sherpa Concept Group in 2023, MTR already won hearts with its first location near Pashupatinath. Today’s opening in Kamal Pokhari marks an exciting expansion, offering the brand’s signature repertoire—from fluffy Idli and crispy Dosa to aromatic Bisi Bele Bath—all crafted from time-honored recipes using the freshest ingredients.

The grand opening was a festive celebration, held from 1 PM to 5 PM, where guests were warmly welcomed into a vibrant and inviting atmosphere that captured MTR’s century-long culinary heritage.

Early visitors praised the menu vigorously—calling the food amazing—and noted the incredible guest engagement, highlighting an ambiance that effortlessly blends warmth, hospitality, and community spirit.

Strategically located opposite City Center, the Kamal Pokhari outlet is designed to accommodate a wide range of diners—from families enjoying weekend lunches to professionals seeking a quick, flavorful bite. It offers dine-in, takeaway, delivery, and catering services from 8 AM to 10 PM daily, making it a versatile addition to Kathmandu’s culinary scene.

Since its founding in 1924, MTR has maintained its legacy of quality and authenticity. Singapore’s expansion into Nepal reflects the brand’s mission to share the rich culinary heritage of South India with a broader global audience—a mission that shines brightly at Kamal Pokhari.

With today’s launch, MTR continues to deepen its bond with Nepal’s gastronomic culture—bringing both heritage and hospitality to the heart of Kathmandu.
