A walk was held on the occasion of World Paralysis Day. Nepal Paralysis Association, Nepal Paralysis Project, Grandi International Hospital, and other organisations organised a walk from Maharajgunj to Samakhusi Chowk in Kathmandu this morning with a public awareness program.

“1.3 million People are paralyzed in the world every year. One-third of the paralyzed people have to die prematurely, the government needs to pay special attention to prevent it from becoming catastrophic” said Dr. Raju Paudel, President of the Nepal Paralysis Association and senior neurologist.

“There is a possibility of paralysis in every four and one in six seconds in the world. The rate of paralysis in an underdeveloped and developing country like Nepal is high, so it is necessary for the government to pay attention to it in time. Statistics show that 10 percent of those who are paralyzed in Nepal now die.” Said Dr. paudel.

“Everyone needs to be cautious about high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, smoking, inactive lifestyle, unbalanced diet and heart rhythm disorders as there is a possibility of paralysis.” He urged.

“Loss of balance, crooked face, sudden loss of eyesight, slurring of speech, numbness of limbs are symptoms of paralysis and treatment is possible only if you reach the hospital within four and a half hours.” Said Dr paudel.

“Since blood clots in the body during paralysis, the patient is treated with blood thinners and apart from this, the patient should undergo physiotherapy.” He added.

“Since the problem of paralysis is a global problem, the government should pay special attention to its treatment. The patients with paralysis can be saved if treated on time.” Said Dr. Vinod Vijukche, Medical Director of Grandi International Hospital, Dhapasi._Rss
