Shankaracharya Nishchalananda Saraswati of Govdrdhan Math in Jagannathpuri has inaugurated the temple of Adya Shankaracharya in front of Pashupatinath main temple.
The temple, which was damaged by the earthquake of Baisakh 12, 2072, was rebuilt some time ago. Addressing the opening program, once Nepal in Himawatkhand is secured, India will also be secured and Vedic Sanatan Darshan will act as a security shield for this region.
In the Vedic Sanatani tradition, Adya Shankaracharya is considered an avatar of Lord Shiva. Adya Shankaracharya himself established four monasteries in the four corners of India for the protection of Sanatan Dharma and culture. That monastery is still operating according to the rules originally made by him.
Adya Shankaracharya came to Nepal at the age of 28-30. When he came to Nepal in 478 BC, it is believed that Licchavi king Shivadev was ruling. The news of Shankaracharya coming to Nepal spread excitement in the hearts of all Sanatan Dharma devotees and a large crowd of people gathered to see them.
Shankaracharya himself used to sit in the courtyard of the Pashupatinath temple and preach to everyone. Listening to the melodious classical interpretation by the Acharya, the heart of the listeners was filled with joy. In this way, a renaissance was seen in Hinduism in Nepal. Acharya's disciples started preaching religion in the city.
To the Brahmins here, they started teaching the daily Naimittik Karma - Agnihotra, worship of five deities, and five great sacrifices. At the request of the common people, Brahmins versed in Vedas went to different places and started preaching Varnashram Dharma and performing rituals of Vedic Dharma. Temples and Maths were established here because Adya Shankaracharya came and stayed here.
“This monastery was named Shankaracharya Math because the first Shankaracharya came and stayed there and the importance of the Pashupati area increased in the world because of his visit,” said Dr. Ramanananda Giri, president of Shankaracharya Math, Saint Dr. Kesavananda Giri, who is also the president of the Gurukul Parishad._Rss
