KATHMANDU

The Nepal Academy has submitted a detailed project report (DPR) to the Ministry of Culture for developing ‘Devkota Kavi Kunja’, the house where Mahakavi Laxmi Prasad Devkota was born, as a modern museum.

According to the officials of the Academy, the estimated cost of the project is Rs 115 million including Rs 50 million in the first phase.

As per the DPR, the four-storied building for the museum would be completed in two years.

The museum will have a statue of Mahakavi Devkota, Devkota’s audio-video, the materials used by the poet laureate, and his literary creations, among others.    

The Academy is also planning to organize an international Nepali literary conference once life returns to normalcy after the coronavirus infection and the event would be organized on the occasion of Bhanu Jayanti.
