Dagam is a well-liked tourist destination because of its picturesque mountain views and rural surroundings.

Moutains are gleaming like silver on the north side. With the unaided eyes, one can see the snowy peaks Manaslu, Dhaulagiri, and Annapurna. Being able to observe the scenic views of nine districts which can be identified towards the south, east and west is the introduction of Dagam village of Shuklagandaki Municipality Ward No. 2 of Tanahun.

Natural beauty, clean climate, organic food, original folk culture, friendly behavior of local people have been giving another introduction to Dagam village. The spirit of 'Atithi Devo Bhavah' is clearly visible in the simple, steady and helpful villagers. The villager's steady laughter, speech and behavior make anyone who comes to Tutepani village a stickler.

There is a majority of Magar in Dagam and Gurung in Bhujikot. Out of the twenty-three houses, 20 are Magar and three are Gurung. From here, the view of Himalayas, mountains, Shuklagandaki area and Pokhara Phewa Lake is enticing to anyone who comes here.

Stating that they have named Gharbas as Dagam Community Homestay, he narrated the experience of starting Gharbas program in Dagam after visiting Shirubari village in Syangja in 2065.

Bee hives in every house of Dagam village is another specialty here. That is why another attraction here has become bees and honey. Those who reach Dagam can taste the local honey. Dagam honey and bees have reached different parts of the country, while the honey reaches abroad. When the guests return, local honey is taken as koseli.

Homestay coordinator Nandram Thapa says that the Magar and Gurung culture is another attraction here. He informed that Balan dance will be performed here from October to November, Nachari, Sorathi and Khayali from November to January, Kaura dance from February to Purnima. Along with these dances, Ghatunach is also another originality here. Laliguras blooming profusely in the surrounding forests in March and April tempt the heart of anyone who comes here.

The village has a lot of potential in tourism, but it has been overshadowed by the lack of infrastructure. Dagam is rich in nature and culture, could not be brought to the tourism market due to a lack of promotion.

The road to reach the village was difficult and the Dagam started lagging behind. If the footpaths and roads leading to Dagam can be arranged, it will be easy for visitors to go there for twelve months. There was little help from the government, it was not enough for them. There is a lack of standard toilets in the houses here and it is necessary to pay attention to this.

In recent times, various associations have emphasized the promotion here. In order to highlight the tourism potential of Dagam, Nepal Tribal Journalists Association (PHONIZ) recently conducted a promotional program in Gandaki Province. The gift of nature and culture is waiting for the promotion of Dagam village.

“Since domestic tourists started arriving to enjoy nature, culture, and intimacy, they have been operating homestays in recent years.” Said Nandaram Thapa, Coordinator of Dagam Community Homestay

"We have been planning to run a homestay since 2063. After going to Shirubari and learning, it became easier and the village opened it together. We are excited by the positive feedback received from the guests after Gharbas started operating. We serve local dishes such as soybeans, masyang, gundruk, dhindo, honey, simle etc. to the guests. Local products are more than the identity of Dagam community homestay,” He added.

“Along with millet and corn dishes, local chicken meat is the main choice of homestay guests. A package of 1,400 rupees is available for households. There will be lunch and breakfast, dinner, entertainment and accommodation facilities. Dagam has the capacity to host 40 guests every day.” Said the president of Dagam Community Homestay, Tila Thapa._Rss
