Canyoning activities in Pokhara that were suspended since the nationwide lockdown ordered on March 24 this year to control the spread of COVID-19 has been restarted after a hiatus of seven months.

Ram Gurung of Pokhara Canyoning at Machhapuchre Rural Municipality-9 in Kaski district said that all the health safety measures were put in place to reopen the adventure sport in Pokhara as well as to revive adventure tourism in the city that is emerging as an adventurous sports hub.

Gurung explained, “There is no alternative to breathing a new life into adventure tourism that has been flagging since the COVID-19 crisis. We should not live under fear and bring everything to a standstill. Instead, we should observe all the precautions and move ahead.” Domestic tourists seeking a thrill through canyoning would be completely ensured of a safe environment, assured Gurung.

Canyoning came into operation in Pokhara in 2014. The 75-metre and 45-metre waterfall at Lwang Ghale, some 22 kms from Pokhara is ideal for canyoning.
