Pokhara is a beautiful city in Nepal, serving as the capital of Gandaki Province and the country's tourism capital. It is one of the most lovely cities in Nepal, offering a perfect blend of nature and city life. The city is surrounded by the magnificent Annapurna range and is home to a cluster of nine lakes, with Phewa, Rupa, and Begnas being the major ones. These lakes add to the peaceful environment of the city. Pokhara is an ideal destination for a weekend getaway or a long, relaxing holiday. Both locals and tourists love Pokhara, making it a popular destination for everyone.
Pokhara International Airport, Nepal's third international airport, officially began operations on January 1, 2023. Despite this, there have not been any regular international flights to the airport as of 2024. This is disappointing, considering that Pokhara is the city that welcomes the most tourists every year in Nepal.
Recently, there has been exciting news for both Nepal and Bangladesh. Air Astra, a private airline from Bangladesh, has applied to operate flights three times a week between Dhaka and Pokhara. Both Air Astra and Bangladesh Airlines have shown interest in this issue.Air Astra plays a crucial role in connecting Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, with various regions and the airline has expressed a strong desire to launch international flights to the newly built Pokhara International Airport. If this plan gets approved, it will be beneficial for both countries.
For Nepal, there will be an increase in tourism, bringing more visitors to enjoy the beauty and attractions of Pokhara. It will also become easier to travel to Bangladesh for tourism or business. Students from Nepal will also find it more convenient to travel to Bangladesh for educational purposes.
The potential launch of Air Astra flights between Dhaka and Pokhara is great news for both Nepal and Bangladesh. It promises to boost tourism and make travel between the two countries much easier and more accessible.
