A team from the Tourist Bus Association of Nepal (TBAN) has embarked on a journey from Kathmandu to Thailand to explore the potential for road connectivity between Kathmandu and Bangkok. The 18-member team, led by TBAN President Krishan Acharya, is set to engage in discussions with tourism entrepreneurs and government bodies in Thailand to assess the feasibility and logistics of operating a tourist bus service between the two countries.
President Acharya emphasized the importance of this visit in fostering bilateral tourism and enhancing connectivity. He stated that the delegation aims to gather insights and establish partnerships that could pave the way for a successful tourist bus operation from Thailand to Kathmandu. Acharya is optimistic that such an initiative would significantly contribute to achieving the government's ambitious target of attracting 1.6 million tourists to Nepal next year.
In addition to their discussions in Thailand, the team will also explore opportunities for tourism promotion in Cambodia. This broader scope reflects TBAN's commitment to expanding Nepal's tourism reach and creating new avenues for inbound tourism.
The proposed route from Kakarvitta in Nepal to Bangkok spans approximately 3,377 kilometers and involves traversing through Myanmar, Bangladesh, and India. The team will closely examine the infrastructural and regulatory aspects of this route to ensure a seamless and enjoyable journey for future travellers.
This initiative is seen as a strategic move to diversify Nepal's tourism offerings and strengthen its position as a premier travel destination in the region. The TBAN delegation is expected to return with valuable insights and actionable plans that will contribute to the realization of this vision.
