The Metropolitan Corporation is ready to keep the pokhari open for all for 365 days without any obstacles

The historical pokhari was opened to the public a week ago after the city police cleaned it. According to KAMPA spokesperson Naveen Manandhar, the pokhari is now open from 6 am to 8 am. The Metropolitan Corporation is ready to keep the pokhari open for all for 365 days without any obstacles.

After the increase in public traffic in the pokhari, the pokhari will be cleaned quickly and its beauty will be maintained, this is the honor of Kathmandu. The foundation stone for the reconstruction of the historical pokhari which was damaged by the Gorkha earthquake of 2072 was also laid by the then President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Magh 2nd of the same year.

Although the reconstruction work was completed on Kartik 5, 2077, the National Reconstruction Authority handed over Ranipokhari to the Metropolitan Corporation only on Poush 8, 2078. After the handover, KAMPA repeatedly tried to open it for everyone. Due to the earthquake, the pond and the Balagopaleshwar temple in the middle of the pokhari were also damaged.

Balagopaleshwar temple in the middle of Ranipokhari, which was earlier built in Gambaj style, has been reconstructed in Granthkut (Shikhara) style built during the time of Pratap Malla according to experts' report. About five years after the foundation stone was laid, the reconstruction work of Ranipokhari has been completed.

It is mentioned in the inscription that after the death of Pratap Malla's son Chakravartendra Malla, Ranipokhari was built to appease the queen. Balagopaleshwar Temple was established in the middle of the pond at that time. Pratap Malla built this pond in the name of his son Chakravartendra. Historians say that the water of one hundred and eight shrines was poured into the pond. During the construction of Pratap Malla, four temples were built around the pokhari. A temple of Bhairava with Shakti is seen in the northwest corner, a temple of Bhairava in the north-east corner, a temple of Devi in the south-east corner, and a six-handed Ganesha in the southwest._Rss
