Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' held a high-level meeting with stakeholders to discuss the matter of Bhairahawa and Pokhara airport operation

The government has decided to operate Gautam Buddha (Bhairahawa) International Airport and Pokhara International Airport at full capacity. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' held a high-level meeting with stakeholders to discuss this matter. Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Hit Bahadur Tamang, reported that the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of these airports as national pride and strategic projects, calling for coordination among government entities for their full operation.

The Prime Minister suggested involving the private sector in the operations of these airports, where the State has already made significant investments. He directed the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, and the Civil Aviation Authority to develop a comprehensive plan for the airports' full-scale operation.

The PM highlighted the necessity of addressing air traffic congestion at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. He proposed that preparations be made to manage the boarding of passengers, including those traveling abroad for employment, directly from Bhairahawa and Pokhara. Additionally, he emphasized the need to provide government services such as work permits, immigration, and medical facilities in these locations.

To support the full capacity operation of the airports, the Prime Minister suggested offering subsidies on air tickets, ground handling, and aviation fuel. He also called for a subsidized package for hotel services, in collaboration with the private sector.
