On Mangsir 1, 2079, choreographer and contemporary dancer JD Tamu and Dancing Star Nepal’s winner Chiring Sherpa set world records for the ‘Highest Altitude Choreographed Duet Dance’ at Kalapattar in the Everest region.
They performed a dance at the 5600-metre height of Kalapathar, the highest peak of Mount Everest which makes them the first team in the world to set a world record in this title.
They did various Nepali folk dances like Maruni, Sakela, Jhaure, Tamangselo and Syabru and their performance was three minutes long. They had their whole crew in their support that included their choreographer and Director Saraswati Dhimal, photographer Abhay Pokharel and videographer and cinematographer Prem Poudel.
The representative of Nepal on the behalf of Guinness, Chitra Bahadur Karki was present there to witness the shoot. The proof of filming is sent to Guinness’ London headquarters, and after their approval, the record will be declared official.
Choreographer JD said that the program was organised to promote Nepali art, culture and tourism.
The initiative done by the team to market Nepal as a tourism hotspot is anticipated to succeed. It is envisaged that more individuals would climb Mount Everest as a result of this act. Their innovations and commitment to promoting Nepali culture are quite admirable.
