The preparations for the 11th edition of the Pokhara Festival have been completed. The newly appointed Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Khagraj Adhikari will inaugurate the festival on the 11th of January, 2023, Wednesday, at Amar Singh Chaur.
Raju Shrestha, chairman of the organiser United Club, Pokhara, said “The opening ceremony of the festival will be grand.” He added, “The festival was held with the aim of promoting sports, art, culture and business.”
The proceeds of the festival will be used for the protection of Seti River, promotion of tourism and the construction of residential hostels targeting children from low-income families.
One rupee of every ticket sold at Mahotsav will be allocated in the name of Seti river protection. There will be 258 commercial stalls at the festival. It is estimated that more than 200,000 spectators will watch the thirteen-day festival.
Throughout the festival period, ethnic costumes, original tableaus and dances reflecting the culture will be presented.
There will also be a display and sales room for industrial products, handicrafts, information technology materials. There will be musical performances by artists on a daily basis in the festival. Fun children's garden, school level folk dance competition, comic comedy, horse riding etc. will be the attractions of the fair.
