Noted climber Kamirita Sherpa scaled Sagarmatha (Mt Everest) today for the 28th time

Renowned climber Kamirita Sherpa has once again made history by reaching the summit of Sagarmatha (Mt. Everest) for the 28th time. Breaking his own previous record, Kamirita successfully conquered the world's highest peak at 9:23 a.m. today. This achievement comes just a week after his 27th ascent on May 17, making it his second expedition to Everest this spring.

At the age of 53, Kamirita Sherpa boasts an impressive resume with 40 summits of mountains above 8,000 meters, including Choyu (eight times), Manaslu (three times), Lhotse, and Mount K2. His first conquest of Everest was on May 13, 1994, a momentous occasion he celebrated with great joy.

Following closely behind Kamirita is fellow climber Pasang Dawa Sherpa, who has also achieved a remarkable feat by reaching the summit of Everest for the 27th time. At 46 years old, Pasang Dawa Sherpa equaled Kamirita's record when he completed his second ascent this spring on May 22.

However, Kamirita Sherpa didn't stop at equaling the record; he surpassed it by scaling Everest for the 28th time. With this extraordinary accomplishment, he solidifies his position as one of the greatest climbers in history.

This spring season has seen the largest surge in mountain climbing permits in Nepal's expedition history. The Department of Tourism has issued permits to 478 climbers from 44 different expedition teams, marking a record number of climbers in Nepal's 70-year-old expedition history._Rss
