Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai has said that the government is working for the development of Janakpurdham's infrastructure in the highest possible manner. And thought it was a beautiful gift.
Talking about the close relationship between the Union and the government of Province No. 2, he said, "The building and the tower are a symbol of federalism." Stating that the government is positive towards the demand of naming Janakpur Airport as Janakpurdham Airport in terms of dignity and importance of Janakpurdham, the center of civilization and culture, he pointed out the need to move ahead with the policy process.
Minister Bhattarai stressed the need for discussion, understanding and cooperation between the federal, state and local levels for the availability of land and solution of procedural issues as the expansion of runways from Janakpurdham to inter-state and international air services is necessary.
Member of the House of Representatives Rajendra Mahato said that Janakpur Airport should be renamed as Janakpurdham Airport and air services should be expanded to promote religious tourism. Another member of the House of Representatives, Julie Mahaseth, said that it was necessary to make Janakpurdham Airport a regional airport.
Minister for Industry, Forest, Environment and Tourism Ram Naresh Roy urged to give concrete form to the concept of air service from Janakpurdham to major destinations in Antar Pradesh and Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar in India.
Secretary at the Ministry Yadav Prasad Koirala, Chief of Janakpudham Sub-Metropolis Lal Kishore Sah and Chief of Aerodrome Engineering Department Pradip Adhikari expressed confidence that the construction of the building and tower would help in the promotion of tourism in Janakpurdham.
As per the policy of the government to replace the old terminal building with a well-equipped terminal building, the 53-year-old terminal building of Janakpurdham has been replaced with a state-of-the-art terminal building at a cost of Rs. 420 million.
It is said that steel was used instead of bricks in the structure of the building and the terminal. The construction work of the terminal building should have been completed in two years but it has been completed in eight years due to technical problems and structural ambiguity.
