Himalaya Airlines partners with Nepal Orthopedic Hospital for CSR, donating AC for patients' comfort, exemplifying social responsibility.

Himalaya Airlines Pvt. Ltd., a company dedicated to fulfilling its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) objectives, has taken a significant step towards contributing to the healthcare sector. In a handover ceremony on July 16, 2023, Mr. Zhou Enyong, President of the airlines, presented a 2-ton standing Air Conditioner to Mr. Samden Lama, Chairperson, and Dr. Kailash Kumar Bhandari, Medical Director of NDA-Nepal Orthopedic Hospital.

The air conditioner was installed in the Sagarmatha General Ward of the hospital, which caters to economically disadvantaged patients in need of quality orthopedic care at affordable service charges. Situated on the top floor of the hospital, the ward often faced high temperatures and humidity, making it challenging for both patients and medical staff to function comfortably. The air conditioner's installation has provided much-needed relief, creating a conducive environment for better functioning in the ward.

Following the handover ceremony held at the hospital premises, Mr. Zhou Enyong visited the Sagarmatha General Ward to observe the working conditions. In his statement, he emphasized Himalaya Airlines' commitment not only to the progress of Nepal's aviation sector but also to fulfilling its societal responsibilities. He expressed hope that their small contribution would significantly strengthen Nepal Orthopedic Hospital's efforts to serve the less fortunate with quality care. Additionally, Mr. Enyong revealed Himalaya's pledge to allocate a percentage of the inflight magazine revenue to support a children's orphanage under the care of Nepal Disabled Association officials.

Dr. Kailash Kumar Bhandari, expressing deep gratitude, lauded Himalaya Airlines for its humanitarian and generous gesture. He acknowledged the significance of the airline's contribution to Nepal Orthopedic Hospital and appreciated the promising beginning of their collaboration.

This event marks a significant milestone in the ongoing partnership between Himalaya Airlines and Nepal's healthcare community. Throughout the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic, the airline has made substantial contributions to various hospitals, NGOs, and healthcare organizations in Nepal. These contributions included supplying Vero cell Vaccines, essential medical equipment such as ventilators, PCR testing machines, and infrared thermometers, as well as personal protective equipment (PPE) and surgical masks. Himalaya Airlines' unwavering dedication to the well-being of society exemplifies its core values and commitment to the people of Nepal.

Nepal Orthopedic Hospital, located within the premises of the Nepal Disabled Association (NDA) at the Khagendra New Life Centre in Jorpati, Kathmandu, was established in August 1998. The hospital's mission is to provide quality orthopedic care at minimal cost and with charity to those in need. As the country's first and only charitable, not-for-profit hospital, it offers free treatment to poor and low-income patients, furthering its commitment to serving the community.
