The death tally from Covid-19 infection is increasing day by day after the second wave of the pandemic flares up across the country. Number of the infected has also gone up since mid-April. On Tuesday, the country records 7,660 positive cases: 7,587 through PCR and 73 from antigen tests, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.
Number of total tests was 16,131 (PCR) and 561 (antigen). With this, the total tally of the infected has reached 351,005. Similarly, on Tuesday 1,775 were recovered. To date, 287,790 have been cured and the national recovery rate is 82 percent. On Tuesday, the country reported a record high of 55 deaths from Covid-19 in the 24 hours, taking the national death tally to 3,417.
According to the Ministry, 20 districts, including Morang, Sunsari, Jhapa, Dhanusha, Parsa, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Chitwan, Kavrepalanchowk, Makwanpur, Kaski, Dang, Banke, Rupandehi, Palpa, Bardiya, Kapilvastu, Surkhet and Kailai have remained as the districts having above 500 positive cases.
At present, 616 are being treated at ICU and 179 are on ventilator support. Meanwhile, seven infected died today in Kavrepalanchowk: four at Dhulikhel Hospital and three at Banepa-based Sheer Memorial Hospital. The District Covid-19 Crisis Management Center said the deceased are from Manadandeupar, Banepa, Panauti, Bhaktapur and Mahottari Jaleshwor. They are a 78-year-old male, a 42-year-old male, a 62-year-old female, an 80-year-old female, a 62-year-old female, a 67-year-old male and a 50-year-old female.
Similarly, a male from Mandandeupur died amidst the treatment in the Lalitpur-based Nepal Medicity Hospital.
