In Kalika Temple in Kushma, Batulechaur, a big fair will be held on Chaitey Dashain after three decades. Thousands of pilgrims are expected to visit this temple in the fair.

After three decades, a fair has been held in Chaitey Dashain at Kalika Mandir located in Kushma Municipality-12, Batulechaur. A fair was held on the occasion of Chaitrashtami in the temple premises of historical, religious and archaeological importance. The Chaitey Dashain fair has been revived by the Ward Office and restarted from this year. Ward president, Jhalak Rimal, informed that programs such as worship, sacrifice, and religious singing have started in the temple throughout the Chaitey Dashain period.

According to local residents, King Dasharatha came to Batulechaur to atone for the sin of killing his nephew Shravankumar and performed the Ashwamedha Yagna and since then, worship has been carried out on the temple, which was built at this place. Various heritages of the place, which is also considered as the place of penance of Bhrigu Rishi, have been stolen due to lack of protection.

Lately, the management committee has also been active in the preservation and development of the temple. Although the structure is about 200 years old, this temple has been used for regular worship.

Until three decades ago, a big fair was held on the occasion of Chaitey Dashain and Bada Dashain. There used to be a big bazaar for a week. Ganesh Paudel, Chairman of the Kalika Temple Management Committee, said that after the management, decoration and planting of Barpipal trees, the fair temple complex, which has been disappearing recently, has been restored.

When the three-day fair was held four years ago, thousands of spectators participated. Chairman Paudel said that starting from this year, the promotion of this area has been started by organizing fairs on every Chaitrashtami and Bada Dashain.

According to the management committee, there is a problem in working because there is no adequate budget allocation for the protection of the temple, which is of great importance and attracts thousands of pilgrims. Rajesh Paudel, the vice president of the temple management committee, said that in the year 2032, the precious statue of Kalika was stolen from the temple, where there are ancient idols and so far it has not been found anywhere. Apart from this, ancient weapons, ancient conch shells, bells, and idols have also been lost.

According to the Temple Preservation Committee, the Department of Archeology will spend crores of rupees on the preservation of old monasteries and archeological structures, but they have not shown any interest in the Kalika Temple._RSS
