Taltalaiya always comes as a top-priority natural wonder at Itahari. Not many people know about the Bhawanipur Wetland area. This natural magnet has been creating tourism buzz in recent days.

Located at Itahari-19, this wetland is spread within 16.23 hectares of area, says a book titled Itaihashmaa Itahari, roughly translates as Itahari in History.

According to Prem Nirab, local youth, and promoter of this underrated wetland of Itahari, Bhawanipur Wetland is embedded with five natural richness: fishery, irrigation, wetland greens production, picnicking, and source of natural springs.

Nirab said the wetland area is also home to wild species like the pangolin, wild ducks, tortoise, porcupine, and kingfishers.

This wetland area includes a park named Ganeshman Amusement Park, where children enjoy a lot. This is located 6.8 kilometers away from Itahari square, which is accessible both from the East-West Highway and Biratnagar-Dharan highway.

Bhawanipur Wetland aims to update and upgrade its infrastructures, says Nirab. He said their priority is to expand the area of the pond. The second is to speed up the boating service. Other preferences in the pipeline are constructing standard children's parks and erect some indispensable other infrastructures.

''Previously unknown place has earned some name in recent days,'' said Nirab, adding ''Now, we want to make it the must-visit destination in Itharai in the days ahead.''
