As part of their ongoing efforts, the Intrepid Nepal office recently collaborated with Clean Up Nepal for a remarkable cleanup drive. On June 9, 2023, the team embarked on a purposeful hike within the stunning Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park. Known for their adventurous spirit, the Intrepid team worked tirelessly, collecting approximately 80 kilograms of non-biodegradable waste. Their endeavor resulted in a cleaner and more pristine trail, leaving a positive impact on the park's ecosystem.

The collected waste included 377 plastic bottles, 11 glass bottles, and 65 kilograms of junk food wrappers. This successful cleanup drive not only removed a significant amount of litter but also raised awareness among the 55 participating hikers about the detrimental effects of improper waste disposal. The event encouraged hikers to take responsibility for their own trash, promoting the practice of bringing waste back for proper disposal.
Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park, established in 2002, is a sanctuary located on the northern fringes of the Kathmandu Valley. Encompassing an area of 159 square kilometers, the park is not only a haven for biodiversity but also a crucial water catchment area, providing for the water needs of the surrounding population.

With its serene environment, the national park attracts a large number of hikers and picnickers each week. Unfortunately, many visitors leave behind their waste, contributing to the accumulation of litter within the park. While the Intrepid team's efforts in collecting 80 kilograms of waste are commendable, it serves as a reminder of the need for increased awareness among visitors regarding responsible waste management.
