For the first time, a direct bus service has been launched from Khotehang Rural Municipality in the southern region of Khotang to Eastern Terai and Kathmandu. In collaboration with Khotang Transport Pvt. Ltd., the rural municipality has operated a daily bus service from Nigale in Ward No. 3 Sawaktare to Kathmandu and Itahari in East Terai.
Arrangements have been made to leave Khotang Bazar-Kathmandu at 4 am, Wakhutang-Gaighat at 5:30 am, Khotangbazar-Kathmandu at 5 am, Simpani-Kathmandu at 6:30 am and Khotangbazar-Gaighat at 6:30 am.
After the direct transport service from different places of the rural municipality, the residents of the southern region have to reach Beltar in Udaipur and have to take a bus. Access to transportation is getting easier in the villages of Khotang, which has ten local levels. Passengers from remote areas are forced to walk for two days to board a bus.

As most of the rural roads are not up to standard, the risk of accidents is the same.
