Aloft Kathmandu Thamel has partnered with the Charles Baudelaire Institute and the Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management (NATHM) to offer internships to students from Lycée Hôtelier Savoie Léman of Thonon-les-Bains, France, in what is possibly the first such program in Nepal.

The project, a collaboration between France and Nepal, was incubated during the visit of a team led by the Executive Director of NATHM, Mr. Rajesh Uprety, and Mr. Binod Aryal to France in June 2022 under the initiation of the Collectif France Nepal. The partnership was solidified during the visit of Aloft Kathmandu Thamel's General Manager, Mr. Vikram Singh, to Paris.

The students arrived on April 28th, 2023, and will stay for approximately three months during their internship period in Nepal. Aloft Kathmandu Thamel aims to extend Nepali hospitality and culture through internship placements in various departments and by providing extensive services for accommodation, meals, and other basic needs.

"Streamlining international students into our property would provide an exceptional opportunity for culturally immersive professional experiences and innovation, helping to bridge the existing gap for human capital development in the hospitality and tourism sectors." "In addition, we wish to showcase to the world that Nepalese hospitality is second to none and highlight the rich culture of this amazing country," emphasized Mr. Vikram Singh, the General Manager of Aloft Kathmandu Thamel.

"One of our goals for this student mobility project is to diversify the internship destinations of Nepali hospitality and culinary students and promote exposure to international competitive and creative contexts," reports Mr. Binod Aryal, BHM Coordinator of NATHM.

Mr. Gopal P. Singh, Executive Assistant Manager of Human Resources, also emphasized the unique opportunity for mutual learning and growth between the students and Aloft. He expressed his excitement about the internship, which he believes will offer multicultural exposure and help promote Nepali hospitality on a global level.

Mrs. Leela Khanal and Mr. Mukund Bista from the Charles Baudelaire Institute expressed their enthusiasm about the partnership, as it aligns with their mission to promote the overall development and growth of the students.

The students will be mentored by Mr. Pitamber Saru, Associate Director of Learning and Development, in association with the NATHM and French programs. They will receive orientation about the hotel, gain valuable experience from different departments, and learn about Nepali working culture and hospitality.

Aloft Kathmandu Thamel, a part of Marriott International Inc., is extending its hospitality and cultural experience to the students for a unique program. Overall, this collaboration highlights the importance of cross-cultural exchange and the power of partnerships in promoting educational and cultural development.
