Hyundai Nepal hosted a tree-planting program at Ratomate Danda in Chunikhel as part of its "Be (v) the Change" campaign yesterday.

In conjunction with the Ratomate Danda community forest, about 150 participants from all ages planted more than 200 trees on the precise day. Advocates preferring electric vehicles of all ages attended the event, which featured over 40 electric vehicles, including the KONA and IONIQ 5.

The "Be (v) the Change" campaign from Hyundai Nepal is an initiative campaign inaugurated in solidarity with Hyundai Motor Company’s commitment to a sustainable future. The term Be (v) corresponds to battery electric vehicles, the new norm for carbon neutrality, and thus Be (v) the Change acts as a call for sustainability-focused actions for the adoption of sustainable practices at an individual and community level.

The tree plantation is one of the initial actions taken as a part of the endeavour to mitigate the carbon footprint left by fossil fuel vehicles. Hyundai Motor Company, the parent company of Hyundai Nepal, pledged carbon neutrality at all stages of its production and operation by 2045—five years earlier than the global carbon-neutral target of 2050. In its effort to become carbon neutral by 2025, the company anticipates having 23 eco-friendly vehicle lineups and one million electric vehicles.
