Manoj Kumar Thapa, currently serving as the General Manager at Lemon Tree Premier Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu. He began his journey as a trainee at Hyatt Regency Delhi and steadily ascended through the ranks to reach his current position. Originally intent on joining the Indian Army, stemming from a family background deeply rooted in military service, he even cleared his CDS exam. However, fate intervened when he suffered a cartilage injury prior to the SSB, redirecting his path towards the hospitality industry. Despite this twist of destiny, he emerged as a passionate hotelier, specializing in food and beverage, hotel operations, and revenue optimization. Throughout his career, he has garnered experience with renowned hospitality brands including Radisson, Claridges, Four Points by Sheraton, Royal Orchid, and various other standalone hotels. His most recent role was at the Royal Plaza, a 450-room hotel located in the heart of Lutyens Delhi.

How would you introduce the Lemon Tree brand of hospitality a brief background and its present presence

 Lemon Tree Hotels is a renowned Indian hospitality chain known for its vibrant and a refreshing approach to hospitality. With a focus on providing value-driven services without compromising quality, Lemon Tree has carved a niche in the industry. Th brand’s present presence spans key cities in India, UAE, and Bhutan, offering a diverse portfolio of hotels catering to business and leisure travelers.

 What is the significance of the Lemon Tree entering Nepal? Expectations and opportunities that you see for the new property.

With Nepal emerging as a prime destination for travelers seeking cultural experiences and natural beauty, the opening of Lemon Tree Premier Budhanilkantha brings forth exciting opportunities. How do you see your role as the launch GM and would you liketo share some of the opportunities and challenges for yourself in this launch role? 

 As the launch GM, my role is pivotal in ensuring the successful establishment andoperation of Lemon Tree Premier Budhanilkantha. It presents a unique set ofopportunities to showcase the brand’s ethos and elevate the guest experience. Challenges may include aligning operations with local regulations and cultural sensitivities while maintaining consistency in service quality and brand identity. 

How do you see Nepal’s tourism industry at the present moment?

 Nepal’s tourism industry is experiencing a transformative phase, characterized by increasing tourist arrivals and investments in infrastructure development. With its rich cultural heritage and breathtaking landscapes, Nepal holds immense potential to emerge as a leading tourist destination in the region.

 As a new entrant in the already crowded hospitality industry, what are your views on the competition and how will you be different in the market?
