Himalaya Airlines has continued its corporate social responsibility efforts by supporting Prayas Nepal's "Step Towards Education" initiative for the seventh year in a row. During a program at Prayas Nepal on May 11, 2023, the airline provided educational materials such as notebooks, registers, and academic course books of various grades to the children for their 2080 academic session.
In addition to the annual supply of educational materials, the airline organized a special knowledge sharing session for the children's start-up initiative, 'Love Appetite', to enhance their cooking and entrepreneurial skills. Mr. Aakash Lama, an instructor from the Nepal Academy of Travel and Hotel Management (NATHM), provided guidance on kitchen safety, hygiene, menu planning, recipe sharing, and kitchen etiquette. The airline's brand team also shared marketing and branding techniques, provided a specially designed menu, and potentially helped the start-up grow in an efficient and professional manner.
Expressing the airlines' pride in supporting such a noble cause, Ms. Ujjwala Dali, Head of Department, Brand, shared, "In our seven years’ of association with Prayas Nepal, we are really happy to see the children pursuing their dreams through our ‘Step towards Education’ Initiative and are grappling to stand on their own two feet to become independent in life. Through this restaurant start-up, the children have best displayed their learning and ability to walk ahead with dignity in life. Himalaya Airlines is pleased to see their achievements and extends best wishes for many more in every child’s dream! As always, Himalaya will extend the best possible support to fulfill our core objective of social responsibility."
Ms. Mani Joshi, President of Prayas Nepal, expressed deep appreciation for Himalaya Airlines' continued support and said that it has not only boosted the children’s academic performance but also helped them develop a love for learning. She further added, "We are fortunate to have an airline like Himalaya that values education and is dedicated to making a positive impact in their communities. We are grateful for your additional support this year to train our youth to enhance their skills to run the restaurant smoothly."
Established in 2003 with the intention of empowering underprivileged children through education, awareness, and skillful training, Prayas Nepal has been running a children's home for orphaned, abandoned, and physically challenged children from various parts of Nepal for the past two decades.
