The vultures reared in the breeding center were kept in the vulture house in Pitholi before Nawalparasi for a few days and taught to mingle with other vultures in the forest and then transferred to release in the forest.
According to conservation expert DB Chaudhary, mother and chick vultures raised in Kasara since 2008 have been prepared to be released into nature (into the forest) near the Jatayu restaurant opened in the sample intermediate community forest at Kawasoti. 59 vultures raised in Kasara's vulture breeding center have been released into the forest so far.
It is planned to release the vultures brought now into the forest. Before releasing them into the forest, they are made to get used to living in nature, searching for food, and living according to the weather.
In order to increase the number of endangered vultures by protecting them, a vulture restaurant was started in the community forest at Pitholi in Kawasoti in 2063. Vultures are lured by giving food to old quadrupeds in that restaurant. The vulture breeding center and Jatayu restaurant project started in Nepal have been considered successful in the world. So far in Nepal, 59 vultures have been reared in breeding centers and released into the wild.
40 wild vultures have been captured and released in the wild with satellite tags. Nine species of vultures are currently found in Nepal as part of a campaign to protect endangered vultures. Among the vultures found in Nepal, Jatayu Restaurant Pitholi is home to eight species of vultures. It is estimated that there are about 15,000 vultures in Nepal.
“To count the vultures left in the forest, they will be released with satellite tags on their backs and legs. There are number tags on the legs and satellite tags on the back", Said Chaudhary, a conservationist._Rss
