The Department granted permission for climbing Manaslu (8,163m) which lies in Gorkha district and Nuptse (7,864m) which is situated in the Solukhumbu district.

Permit is issued for a single climber for Nuptse which sits adjacent to the world’s highest mountain, Sagarmatha (Mt Everest), and the world’s fourth highest mountain Mt Lhotse while four climbers will be attempting to scale Manaslu, the eighth-highest mountain in the world, according to Department’s officer Bhismaraj Bhattarai.

Bhattarai shared that the Department had received many applications for expeditions on other mountains, a majority of them were for Sagarmatha and Mt Annapurna. The department has received over 50 applications from aspiring climbers from various countries across the world for on-arrival visa to climb different expeditions.

Most of the aspiring climbers have applied through their respective expedition companies which will manage their expeditions, said Bhattarai.
