MUSCAT,

Oman's supreme committee handling COVID-19 banned entry of passengers from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh as of Saturday, the official Oman News Agency reported.

The decision was taken as part of measures to stop the spread of the pandemic in the Gulf state as the three countries have thus joined the list of nations from which passengers are not permitted to fly to Oman.

Omani nationals, diplomats attached to embassies accredited to the Sultanate, healthcare workers, and their families are excepted from the decision.

The Omani Health Ministry's latest figures on Thursday showed 185,278 infections, the overall recoveries 165,051 while the deaths hit 1,942.
