The ninth Khichara festival, scheduled to take place from January 13 to January 24 in Khairahani, Chitwan, is set to celebrate and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the Tharu community. Tharu Welfare Assembly Constituency 7 is spearheading the event, with a primary focus on showcasing Tharu culture, including costumes, language, literature, and cuisine, during the auspicious occasion of the Maghi festival.

The festival, an annual tradition observed on Magh 1, aims to promote and safeguard the unique aspects of the Tharu community. Rameshwor Chaudhary, the coordinator of the main organizing committee, highlighted the extensive preparations for the event, involving a 200-member main organizing committee and 15 sub-committees.
