New Tourist Destination: Bharat Lake of Bagmati

Bharat Lake under construction in Bagmati Municipality-4 and 12 of Sarlahi has become a new tourist destination.

The attraction of domestic and foreign tourists is increasing at Bharat Lake that is under construction in Bagmati Municipality-4 and 12 of Sarlahi . Currently, the lake is under construction.

Bharat Kumar Thapa, Mayor of Bagmati Municipality, informed that about Rs 98 crore has been spent for the construction of man-made Bharat Lake. He said that another one arba rupees will be invested to complete the multi-purpose project and there is a plan to develop the lake as a multi-purpose project.

Mayor Thapa said, “The work of the lake will be completed by increasing the budget of the city, the grants from the federation and the state. It has been done only by 20 to 25 percent, and we have made a strategy to complete the entire work of the multi-purpose project within three years.” 

Fish and duck farming has been started in the lake. According to the municipality, this will help in increasing the income.

The deputy head of the municipality, Leela Kumari Moktan, said that a multi-purpose project has been conducted on 121 bighas where the lake is located. "We have used the river Bagmati, it is being used for the development and prosperity of the municipality and the city itself", he said.

Especially domestic and Indian tourists come here to enjoy the beauty of the lake

The structure is being constructed to attract about six million tourists annually. At present, five hundred people are employed daily in the lake. About 40 boats, big and small, are operating in the lake now.

Ward president of Bagmati-12, Om Bahadur Shrestha informed, “Under the multi-purpose project, a state-of-the-art forest banquet site, jungle safari, Sumeru Parbat with Shiva Parvati temple, fun park, hotel with mini casino are being constructed to attract internal and external tourists to the lake. We are promoting Bharat Lake as the main source of income of Bagmati municipality, there is a plan to make the lake the 'hub' of Madhesh province.”_RSS
