An all-party meeting held in coordination with the District Administration Office today has decided to close the road for two weeks from December 6 to cut the road. The meeting has decided to work to close the road from Kushma Municipality-7 Khareha to Dobilla of Ward No. 8 by widening the road. Assistant Chief District Officer Ghanshyam Gautam informed that the road has been closed from 11 am to 2:30 pm.

Work is in full swing on the road section now. About 70 percent of the work on the highway has been completed. The construction is being carried out by closing the road as hard rocks are yet to be broken on the cliffs between Khareha and Chuwa and Dobilla from Chuwa.

Govinda Bhusal, project manager of Lama Construction Company, informed that the construction work has been started due to traffic congestion on the road. Although an agreement was reached with the project to complete the construction work in 36 months, the agreement expired last August. The work, which had been suspended for nearly seven months due to Covid-19, had started in the second week of last September.

In the process of upgrading roads in the mountainous region, black leafing has also been started in the Modikhet area. According to the company's representative Rajaram Acharya, the work of spreading black leaf will be completed in at least five kilometers until the winter arrives. He said that the work of spreading black leaves up to the border of Kaski and Parbat will continue as long as it is favorable. "The work of spreading black leaves will continue till the temperature reaches and the rain stops." He said, "Work is continuing on the rest of the road."

According to the construction company, the company has won the contract for the upgrade of 23.769 km from the mountain entrance to Maldhunga. Out of 23 kilometers of the section, 98 percent of the structure work has been completed. The border of Baglung has been blacktopped for about five kilometers from Maldhunga to Nayapul. Due to floods and landslides, roads in some parts of the section have been damaged and there is a need to blacktop again.

"Work on the remaining structure and laying of black paper on the base has started." Project Manager Bhusal said, "The rest of the work will be completed in this fiscal year. The work will not be stopped as before." After the road construction work has been neglected for a long time, additional manpower and resources have been provided to assist the management. Chief of the Pushpalal Mid-Hill Highway Project Mountain Office Meghraj Marasini informed that work is in full swing in the Parbat and Baglung sections. He said that work is being done to complete all the works within the current fiscal year.
