The government has further tightened entry to the Kathmandu Valley. The Home Ministry has decided to completely restrict the movement in Kathmandu Valley except for essential service in order to prevent and control the COVID-19 infection. The Ministry has sent circular to all 18 local levels of Kathmandu Valley to implement the decision.
A meeting held among Chief District Officers, mayor of municipalities and metropolitan cities in the Valley and security personnel in the presence of Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa on Wednesday reviewed the situation of COVID-19 infection and its prevention. Even the Mayors of the municipalities adjoining the Kathmandu Valley were present in the meeting.
The meeting drew the conclusion that though the lockdown has become effective, it has not been completely implemented as people are still leaving their homes under different pretexts. So the meeting decided to further tighten the lockdown.
Ministry Spokesperson Kedarnath Sharma shared that the meeting decided to further restrict the people's movement except very essential in the Kathmandu Valley. The lockdown would be further tightened at coordination with local levels, police and administration.
